Personal notes

I'd never ridden a bike other than a pushbike my whole life. Not even pillion. I decided to get my L's. But then what? I am single and have lots of riders in my friend and family group but none live near me. I decided I needed something inexpensive in case I lost interest. (Quick resale. ). It needed to be new as I didnt have a way to fix any issues that may come with a second hand bike nor did I have anyone around to ride something to the mechanics for me if need be. And I needed something I could reach the ground on. (For the record, flat foot with left foot, just slightly tippy toes right foot.) My instructor, my family, friends and online searching all kept coming up with this bike as a great beginner bike.

What I loved
  • Lightweight bike making it easy to maneouvre.
  • Weight feels down low. If you think you are gonna drop it, you have a second to steady yourself and get balanced again.
  • Goes all day at low speeds for skills practice no problem, but also has enough power to take off quickly at a stop light.
  • Very reliable.
  • Low initial cost.
  • Parts and service readily avail anywhere.
  • Easy resell later on as a reliable LAMS bike.
What felt challenging
  • I'm told I'll probably upgrade to something with more power in a year or two?
  • The lightweight also can feel 'thrown around' when riding in high winds. Its fine, but takes a little getting used to.
